The Component Object Model (COM) Interface, a specialized integration tool that allows you to access the functionality of the PC*MILER Connect DLL in an object-oriented way, is being discontinued after PC*MILER Connect 33. No services are being “turned off.” Your current install and integration to PC*MILER will continue to work normally.
What does "discontinued" mean?
Trimble MAPS will no longer include the COM interface with future versions of PC*MILER Connect. PC*MILER Connect 33, which was launched in June 2019, will be the last version release of the software where the COM interface is included.
We will continue to provide technical support for customers with COM integrations until Dec. 31, 2020, as long as they are current on their payments. As of Jan. 1, 2021, no further support, software updates or data updates will be provided.
What are the alternatives?
There are many options for customers who want to continue using future versions of PC*MILER to retrieve distances, driving times, state-by-state mileage breakdowns, and detailed driving instructions. You can:
Call the PC*MILER DLL directly from your application using our Connect APIs.
Subscribe to our web services, which offer PC*MILER location data, routing and maps via APIs using RESTful or SOAP standards.
Upgrade your COM integration to Microsoft’s .NET framework.
